Age range: 18-45
Formation program
Three-year formation program: Candidacy, Postulancy, and Novitiate.
Five years Temporary Profession: Study of community living, self-giving, gospel life, Franciscan spirituality and Church teachings, the three vows - poverty, chasity, and obedience.

Rev. Rafael Palazzi, O.F.M., bishop of Hengyang, Hunan, started the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows in 1939 in China. The Sisters are committed to evangelization among people in places where the Gospel has not been fully accepted, and they draw encouragement and strength from Mary, the co-redemptrix of the human race. They have missions in Oregon, California, Canada, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Apostolic works include catechetics, pastoral ministry, retreat ministry, education, and care of the sick and the underprivileged.
